Warning about Domain Renewal Group

I just got off the phone with a client who received a letter from a company called the Domain Renewal Group. She didn't recall what company she had originally registered her domain with and was prepared to send in her money to them. Thankfully I got to speak with her before she did.
The Domain Renewal Group is a company that sends out deceptive renewal notices to folks whose domains are due to expire and tricks the unsuspecting, just like my client, into thinking they must renew their domain with them or it will be lost. These are misleading tactics to garner your business. Their letter is in the exact same format used by Domain Registry of America (DRoA). A quick look at the Whois for domainrenewalgroup.com shows that this domain is controlled by the same company running DRoA.
If you receive a letter from Domain Renewal Group, do not be fooled! We recommend you throw it away. Here is a sample letter:
